Sophie Hunt
Director

Sophie is an award-winning crisis management consultant with more than 25 years’ experience delivering crisis planning, consultancy and training for leading organisations around the world.

At Insignia, Sophie directs, develops and delivers crisis management and communication training for major clients including Royal London, NFU Mutual and Gowling WLG. She works closely with senior leaders across a wide variety of sectors, including financial and professional services, mining, critical infrastructure, construction and social care.

Before joining Insignia in 2011, Sophie worked for two global PR consultancies, Porter Novelli and Burson Marsteller. Her extensive leadership experience means she has a deep understanding of the pressures executives face during a crisis. She is described by a senior client contact as “a trusted advisor and exceptional leader on our account”.

Sophie has extensive experience of auditing crisis management and crisis communication plans and processes, helping clients understand the risks they face, and developing and implementing robust plans, processes and documentation to fit their specific culture, structure and needs.

She has led multiple exercises for clients in the UK, Africa, Canada, the USA, South America and Europe, helping them to plan and prepare for risks ranging from cyber-attacks and employee malpractice to environmental disasters and labour issues.

Sophie’s passion is building long-term, trusted relationships with our clients, many of whom have been working with her for more than five years. Her quality of work and commitment to understanding organisations’ individual needs underpins everything she does.

Sophie has led the Lundin Mining account since 2012, planning and delivering exercises across all their operations in three continents so teams are equipped with the capabilities they need to manage a crisis. Lundin Mining said that investing in crisis management planning and training meant they “were able to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak in a timely, well organised and purposeful manner” and it “made a huge difference to our ability to protect our people, the business and its reputation.”

Outside of work, Sophie enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and is a keen gardener.

"It’s immensely rewarding to see our clients develop skills and capabilities so they are better prepared to manage crises and protect the lives and livelihoods of those they support."
